Not in 1948. Foreign policy was too crucial at that time, and clearly Wallace did not have the right foreign policy.

As for the Cold War, that's revisionist history to the utmost. Truman didn't provoke the Cold War, Stalin and the Communists did.

the US did in the West what Stalin did in the East -- albeit in a liberal fashion.

And that makes a heck of a difference.
