This deal is sh*t. Most of the super-rich will see their ridiculously low rates become permanent, as well as a shamefully low estates tax. Meanwhile, everything the Democrats care about (unemployment insurance, medicare savings, etc) is only postponed for a couple months. Payroll tax will massively go up and disproportionally hurt the working class, while the rich will be almost unaffected. And with what's left to negotiate (spending cuts+debt ceiling), democrats will have a much weaker hand.

So all of Obama's bragging about not giving up to pressures and stand with the "middle class" ended up with a deal that every sane Republican would find perfect. Democrats still love getting screwed in every way possible.

Now the only hope is that there's enough teabaggers in the House to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory for the GOP...

I understand the far-rights arguement against the Deal, they just don't want to raise any taxes. But what does the left not like about it? Just because instead of Obama pushing for $250000, he compromised and got  $400,000?

Because Obama gave up on literally anything apart from that miserable 4.6 point increase on the hyper-rich. All the cuts the GOP likes are made permanent, while everything the Democrats want to defend are only postponed by a couple months.

Democrats are morons.

or maybe they aren't who you think they are.  Obama would love to be etched into history as the president who destroyed the welfare state.

Yeah, sorry but I'd rather believe in the infinity of human stupidity rather than in some evil conspiracy.

such as?

The income tax cuts for 98% of Americans, as well as the disgusting estate tax cut, probably the worst thing of the Bush package, which will only see a microscopic hike.

What the heck is it with overwhelming support from the left of the Democratic Party? Do even these people not realize they are shooting themselves in the foot?

OK, I'm not getting my green avatar back, but I've lost most of my respect for Democrats. All this bragging about the "Middle Class" during the conventions, and that's how it ends. With some of the greatest progressives out there, from Bernie Sanders to Sherrod Brown, supporting this reactionary sh*t. Today they have proved they're almost as faulty than Republican for America's problems.

If the deal wasn't reached, the 1st victims would be unemployed people...

And instead unemployed people and all the other non-1%ers will get slaughtered in 2 months.

Sad

What would have happened if Pelosi had got a plurality due to 33-35 GOPers spoiling their vote?
