I disagree. The GOP convention should be in New York City to promote President Bush's crowning achievement as President...his handling of the days immediately after September 11th. The convention is a national event, not a regional event, and the people who attend are ALL party regulars, so the idea of Zell Miller or anyone else being able to "reach more Southerners" at a convention in Tampa is simply not accurate. And remember, I'm in Tampa, so I really, really wanted it here so I could attend myself.

Besides, if the convention is New York City, that means more of the wacko left wingers will show up outside and protest Bush, which translates to votes for Bush as middle of the road, undecided Americans HATE those left wing extremists. Every time the leftists hold a high profile "peace rally" in the months leading up to the war it increased the support for the War in Iraq among rank and file Americans.

Me too! I was praying it would have been here.

2000 GOP convention in Philly. That's what got me interested in politics.

As for 2004 convention, I think NYC is a pretty good place to have it but would have no problem with it down in Tampa. It would really help the GOP down in FL though we should carry the Sunshine state by enough votes. No need for 3 or 4 recounts this election!

Keystone Phil,

You're right, we will carry Florida this year...no need for a recount unless the Democrats organize a series of Prison Breaks on election day and let all of their Felonious Pals vote.

Jeb Bush restored the rights of some 50,000 ex-cons. I don't know if you read that but it was in the Lakeland Ledger.

Alfie entering into a conversation is like watching a good porno movie and all of the sudden Roseanne Barr appears naked on your T.V. screen...LOL

What a lovely thought: a circle jerk of radical reich wing nuts flapping their softies, praying, "Oh Jesus, harden thy rod and staff".  What's the money shot scene?  Is it stormtrooper Lyn Cheney fire hosing bottom-boy Dick?  You aree a creep and a perverted porn addict.

Alfie,

Like death and taxes, we knew your return was inevitable...LOL

Mark,

I beg you to ignore this troll. He hates America first.

But Remember for the GOP you need a Hispanic, a woman (Olympia Snowe, could be very good, perhaps a speech mentioning Reagan, she was in his cabinet after all).

Ben, you  brought up how the GOP needs an Hispanic...well if Mel Martinez is the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate from Florida (I'm hoping that McCollum wins that nomination, though) he would probably speak. Also, the Georgia Senate primary race includes a black conservative Republican named Herman Cain. If he gets the nomination there (which I hope he does) he is pretty Senator-elect since the Dems aren't putting up any serious candidates in November. So Cain would probably receive some speaking time, too. There are plenty other minority candidates running as Republicans. They might not all speak, but they'll be there, supporting the GOP and that is what matters most.

Also, what post did Snowe serve in during the Reagan administration?

Jeb Bushs' wife is Hispanic. She could speak Smiley. I hope McCollum loses. I want Johnnie Byrd!!!!! www.gojohnniego.com

Byrd won't win. It's either McCollum or Martinez. I want McCollum since he's the more conservative of the two.

Byrd will win Smiley. I know him well enough and he is a great guy.

I think they are all pretty good candidates. Being the Speaker of the Florida House, I would think Byrd would be doing better in the polls, though.

I've met him so many times and he often eats lunch in the restuarant next door to me. Smiley He is a down to earth guy but he has a lot of competition.

Don't want to be humiliated?  Then don't do things that are humiliating.  Talking about porn on a public board!  Have none of you any shame?

That Alfie knows right from wrong, and believes in personal responsibility, perhaps?  That maybe sometimes one has to put down their political agenda and deal with the human rights issues that Bush tries to sweep under the carpet?

"War crimes"?  You bet!  "Execute"?  Well, I don't make those calls -- mean -- I'd be glad to, but as a rule I don't have any input.

In your view any non-veteran president should not have the right to defend the US because they are a "chicken hawk". So I guess FDR is a chicken hawk, huh?

I've been to the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Fly-In a few times!  What a total trip THAT is: crazy aircraft, wild (if a bit older) people, and a lot of fun.

That must be a real tough place to live, what with all that sunshine and warm weather...

"i can't fly this plane!"

Watch out for Martin O'Malley. He is the Dems best hope to take back the MD Governor's Mansion in 2006.

Malley has done wonders for the city of Baltimore. Much like Schmoke and Mr Oh so great and the easternshore is a sh*thouse Schafer. None of these guys has done anything to improve the quality of my once beautiful city. That's why I left that place and never looked back.

He's also a scumbag, and I'd rather have Ehrlich then him.

Give me someone like Elijah Cummings or Steny Hoyer for Governor. Liberal with integrity.

. O'Malley has potential. He is another one in the line of Schafer and Schmoke who have helped turn the city around.

Turned it around? Into what? A sewer? Sorry to tell you but Baltimore has been in a steady decline since 1964. Yeah the Inner Harbor thing is nice and all but I wouldn't dare venture outside of there or possibly even be there once the sun goes down. Is North Avenue a fine example of urban renewal? How about Camden? Harford Road south of Perring Parkway? The school system in Baltimore City is a joke. I almost had to go to Northern but thank God my parents saved enough money to send me to T.Catholic.

I hear Obama will make a key-note speech? is this true and when is he speaking? Still no Pro-life speakers at the Dem convention Sad  I mean either Warner, Breaux or Lincoln would be very good choices IMHO.

It's a leftwing lovefest. Didn't you hear?
