What would the political effects in the United States be if any of these events or trends occur over the next four years.

-Current economic recession becomes a depression

-Oil and fuel prices shoot up higher then before

-The big three American auto corporations go bankrupt

- There is a major scandal in the Obama Administration or among the Democrats in general

- Another terrorist attack occurs on US interests at home or aboard

-The situation in central/South Asia gets worse

 and so much more

So what could happen politically under these conditions?

The GOP wins everything back and are able to establish the Christian and Corporate State of their dreams.

Now ask yourself what happens if:

-- An unambiguous, if slow, recovery begins.

-- Fuel prices are stable, or at least rise only as fast as personal income.

-- US automakers remain solvent.

-- Iraq and Afghanistan become more stable.

-- Anti-American sentiment weakens.

-- Piracy in Somalia comes to the end as the result of joint American-Russian-Chinese military actions.

-- Poverty abates in America.

... Change the assumptions, and you change everything.

Terrorist Attack:

(I assumed a big economic recovery and a Madrid train bombing type terrorist attack)

It looks as if you believe that Obama would be the right President for meeting a terrorist attack -- which is consistent with his talents.

Let's hope that we don't find out the hard way.
