A Republican who was pro-civil rights and anti-Vietnam War. (They switched party registration temporally to vote for RFK) They probably voted for Johnson in 1964, and flipped back to voting Nixon in 1968 once Humphrey became the nominee.

I wouldn't count on this hypothetical voter choosing Nixon over Humphrey in the 68 general; considering Humphrey's steadfast "pro-Civil Rights" record, along with the "half-assed-and-obviously-fake-but-definitely-present-at-all" attempts by Humphrey and his campaign to appear critical of (or at least to distance itself from) LBJ's handling of Vietnam. That said, it nonetheless wouldn't be surprising for this voter to choose Nixon over HHH considering the sheer magnitude of the Johnson-Humphrey administration's mishandling of Nam and overall penchant for "corruption" in general.

A Maine voter in an alternate universe where RFK lives and makes Muskie his running-mate.

Forgive me for getting off topic, but fr though, it's insane how Muskie was singlehandedly able to transform Maine from a safe GOP state to a D-leaning if not safe D state, so much so that it became a swing state after his tenure rather than reverting to safe R status (see the Maine results from the 1976 general election).

Why do I know that you're on the right track even though I've never yet watched a single episode of the show?
