Because they always support the establishment candidate, with 2008 being the only exception for obvious reasons.

Nah, if Jackson got 90% of the AA vote like Obama did then he would have swept the south alike.
Also I remember reading how black support was crucial for Mondale for his wins in the Georgia and Alabama primaries which allowed him to rebound from his New Hampshire loss to Hart.
