First round of voting:

Priebus 45
Steele 44
Cino 32
Anuzis 24
Wagner 23

That's a pretty strong showing for Steele considering the media reports about his demise.

Also, LOL at Wagner. I guess her favorite book answer didn't help her much.

And already more people have heard of what's his name who just got elected as RNC chair than have heard of the missing in action Kaine.
Maybe he will do what Steele couldn't do and stay completely out of the news.

These two posts are very related. Kaine's lack of press coverage is a positive characteristic.

There is a difference between low-profile and completely invisible.
Howard Dean knew how to keep the right balance, after a shaky start.

I'm pretty sure the chair of the DNC or RNC automatically lowers in profile when their party is in the White House.  I never even heard of Mike Duncan until the 2008 RNC race to replace him.

Mike Duncan was acting chair after Mel Martinez resigned.
And he was a party operative, not an active politician (and almost-vice-president) like Kaine is.
