Who would have thunk that the Democrats would be on the side of private property rights and Republicans for state intervention?  [besides me]

These are the same Republicans who are willing to take a crap on the constitution by repealing the 14th amendment while, at the same time, berating "ObamaCare" as unconstitutional. Wink

Good for him, he and Bloomberg clearly have the moral high ground here.

That said, I think it's a sad reflection on the state of American society that the President defending religious freedom is considered controversial.

Mind you, I'm not singling out the United States on the xenophobia thing - Europe's just as Islamophobic, and it's a problem all throughout the "west".

IMO, America's pretty liberal compared to Europe in regards to its attitude towards Islam.

This shouldn't be an issue. Besides, it's not a mosque, not all Muslims are terrorists, and there have been no successful terrorist attacks since That September Day (Fort Hood wasn't anymore of a terrorist attack than your average school shooting.)

If we're pointing out fact which are obvious, yet glossed over by the right wing, let's not forget that the site isn't actually at Ground Zero... it's across the street.
