What are the odds this gets moved to federal court?

For Trump, slim. For Meadows, a little better but not likely.
Who decides if its moved to federal court?

Who decides if its moved to federal court?

U.S. District Judge Steve Jones.
Wikipedia says he is an Obama appointee. So good?

I mean it's not going to really have an impact on the likelihood of a conviction, but the idea behind getting it moved to federal court is so that Trump (or a future Republican POTUS) can pardon him.
But the person who decides if it  is moved to a federal court, an Obama appointee, probably wont right?

Probably won't what? (But like BRTD said, I was wrong, this just changes the jury pool)
Wont move the trial to federal court

Two months? Wow wasn't expecting Willis to ask for a Oct 2023 trial. Everyone was expecting March 2023 at the earliest she would even ask

She did initially, but Chesebro forced her to ask for an earlier date by requesting a speedy trial.
Why does Trump want a speedy trial in Georgia?

I know he wants to push the federal ones as far back as possible, hoping he wins re-election and can pardon himself or turn off the investigations.

Trump doesn't want a speedy trial at all. In fact his lawyer just filed a motion against it.

It was Cheesboro (or rather Cheesboro's lawyer) who wanted the speedy trial.

Lol I read Cheese Bro and thought it meant Trump's orange skin

When will we find out trial date?

With Jan 6 in March and documents in May, I’m starting to think the Georgia case won’t be before the election. There’s always the possibility that the federal trials are delayed or extended. And I doubt Georgia will happen close to the election. The absolute latest is July

I'm assuming a trial date will be set sometime mid September? It took 27 days for Trump to be indicted (Aug 1) for Jan 6 and for a trial date (Aug 28)

It appears right now the date is actually October 23. When Chesebro filed for a speedy trial, the judge set the trial date for October 23 but stated that it only applied to Chesebro. But he hasn't severed anybody's case yet, like Meadows (Trump has not filed to sever yet because he wants to delay). So right now the date is October 23. Willis asked the judge for clarification on this yesterday, because she still wants to try everyone together.
No way they Trump goes to trial in October. I'm sure the judge will clearify that.

At the moment, I am skeptical Georgia will have a trial before the 2024 election. The federal trials will likely be delayed and extended. The Georgia trial won't take place close to the election to avoid looking like interference.

Although, if Judge Cannon pushes the document trial to after the election I could see the Georgia trial happening this Summer

You very well may be right about Georgia, but I highly doubt Judge Chutkan allows Jan 6th trial to be delayed for a significant amount of time, if at all. Cannon's trial is another story; she obviously will do whatever she can without appearing too deferential to trump to allow him to keep pushing back the documents case. But yeh, I don't see Judge Chutkan letting trump's team of clowns delay the DC trial by more than 2-4 weeks at most. The deadline for any kind of pretrial motion is freaking October. They're gonna throw endless amounts of s*** at the wall come October, but I very much doubt much of it sticks. That trial will likely start no less than April.
If Cannon pushes the trial until after the election, I don't see why the Georgia trial can't happen in 2024

Just as I predicted. Willis was hoping for an August trial, which was unrealistic. With the accusations against her and no wanting to appear interfering with the election, the Georgia case probably won't go to trial before the election

If today is closing arguments, how long for McAfee to decide? A week?
