Lets start a new one! Here's the rule: Only Senators (or former Senators) can ascend to the Presidenency or serve as VP.

1948- W. Chapman Rivercomb/John Danaher
1952- Herbert H. Lehman/Edward L. Leahy
1956- Herbert H. Lehman/John F. Kennedy
1960 - Richard Nixon/Edmund Muskie
1964 - Edmund Muskie/Robert Byrd
1968 - Edmund Muskie/Hubert H. Humphrey*1
1972-Barry Goldwater/Robert Taft Jr.
1976 - Henry Jackson/Frank Church
1980 - Henry Jackson/John Durkin*2

*1 Due to a conflict of interests with the Muskie Administration, Vice President Byrd is replaced on the 1968 Democratic ticket with Humphrey
*2 Vice President Church dies in a plane crash, replaced by New Hampshire Senator John Durkin.
