Not entirely surprising. RIP.
RIP.

Sigh of relief for Mike Johnson, as without this the House would need only 2 defecting Rs for a D preferred outcome to succeed after the NY-26 Special. This will keep it at the current status quo of 3.

What a crappy thing to say. "IT'S GOOD THIS GUY DIED BECAUSE IT SAVES REPUBLICANS FROM THEIR OWN SELF-DESTRUCTION!".
Like it or not deaths can impact the trajectory of such a closely divided House. This outcry is silly.

Sure, but there's a time and a place...immediately jumping to the political ramifications of his death right after his death is announced, and in the same post wishing him rest in peace, is not the appropriate thing to do. The forum's name is "Talk Elections," I get it, but even then basic decorum and decency should be followed in not immediately discussing politics at news of someone's death (and I'll go a step further and say this applies to pretty much all politicians except perhaps the vilest of the vile).

I never knew his dad was the Rep from the same district as him and Jr won the seat after the dad's death.

A very sad coincidence.

It stops being coincidental if they give the seat to Donald Payne III.
With this track record maybe he'd want to stay away from the seat

Lmao. Tbf, Senior at least lived a pretty long and fulfilling life, it seems. 77 is a natural age of death.
