3,600 people below retirement age is still a TON...given how young the virus is.

Something needs to be done about the California menace making decisions that impact the other 90% of us. Cancelling school for the fall semester is unacceptable. Severe repercussions are sorely needed for these traitors.

As long as Trump is in the White House, this virus will not be contained. Trump will make sure of it; it helps his re-election due to Biden supporters being too scared to vote in person. That's why he's dismantling the Postal Service; he knows universal VBM would hurt him.

Sure, but all the bodies in the mass graves won't be voting for Trump either, so it probably all balances out.

RIP Trump's chances in New York and New Jersey.

And in any case, it is not hypocritical to make a conscious decision that certain causes or principles are worth risking your life over.

None of these people are risking their lives. They are risking the lives of their parents and likely grandparents, especially the poorest ones.

This shows why I've switched from the Democrats to the Socialists.

What IN THE WORLD is wrong with the Democrats lately? Everyone I know is out and about regardless of political affiliation. How is it that the Democrats in this poll are lagging behind?

And that's in a state that (like so many others) is actually starting to reopen. Do some people just want to stay closed forever?

You had me with the first two sentences. Democrats are not lagging behind on reopening. They are the actually wise ones with the correct opinion on the matter. It's a problem of not practicing their convictions proving to be foolish.

It's amazing the American mask compliance is so superior to Europe given that half of one party is completely adamant about not using it. Not that that compliance is helping us very much right now.

I find it bizarre that this is so partisan. Everybody I know regardless of party affiliation is taking this incredibly seriously, and I see pretty darn good compliance. I don't know if that comes from being from the most impacted area or if I simply do not know the 'rural' type of Republican. Likely a combination. When I was down south, the compliance was near zero but that was six weeks ago before major cases were ubiquitous.

If they have 14 players who have to self-isolate I'm not sure how they're going to have much of a team for the next 2 weeks. I mean it depends who's infected and they can probably still put up 9 capable players but they're probably going to suck.
Teams have 60-player pools for the season, divided into 30 players on the main squad and 30 players on reserve (this was split so they can social distance during training).

For the start of the season, teams were limited to a 30-player traveling squad, plus 3-player taxi squad. This is compared to 25-players last season, which was to be increased to 26-players this season.

They can probably field a team. A lot depends on the distribution - did they wipe out the pitching staff, or starting infield, etc. It may also depend on how many other players haven't tested positive yet, but may do so in the next day or so (what is the lag from incubation until a positive test, and some players may be a secondary infection from another player, so the spread might have occurred over a few days).

I suspect they may just have wiped out the college football season. You can't isolate players from other students if student-athlete is to have any meaning, and squads are large (around 90 players, 20 staff)

MLS is holding a tournament within a bubble in Orlando, but planned on finishing up the season with matches in stadium. Two teams scratched at the beginning of the tournament, and they had to rearrange the schedule. Maybe they can hold off until September.

Fortunately the Marlins have approximately zero players of any notability on their roster so the back-up 30 will work just fine.

Now, if they infected the Phillies, a team with mild playoff aspirations and 8-10 widely known players...can they get by replacing even half of those marquee names with players that nobody has ever heard of?

What would be to happen come playoff time....glad New York (AL) and Philadelphia are playing it safe for now. I still anticipate October disaster however.

Remaining locked down is not feasible in ANY community where there are enough ICU beds, and this has become obvious to 95%+ of all people.

Has it really? I'm not sure polling holds this to be true unless people are simply answering one way about how other people should behave and ignoring it themselves.
