Speaking as someone who knows a lot about literature, Walter Mitty is not a well-known reference at all.

There was a Ben Stiller movie only a few years ago (that had basically nothing to do with the original stories, but still).  Did even a preview or a poster for it completely pass you by?

I've never heard of it either. I thought the poster was making a strange Romney reference or something.

I don't know what to make of his truthfulness, and I too have doubts about many parts of his background (some I'm certain are exaggerated for good fun), but as someone who speaks to him almost daily in mibbit, he did know strikingly precise details about this area of the country (where he supposedly lived) and speaks and thinks quite a lot like someone who went to business school. The details beyond that may be a bit sketchy, but I have zero reason to  doubt those particular facts.

Question ethnicity all you want, I suppose that's fine, but does it really matter?
