How heartbreaking, she's literally a 12 year old and she was going around on a killing spree.

How could this specific case realistically have been prevented though?

I mean, from what we know, this girl almost certainly took her father's unattended gun and used that to shoot up the school, It's not like a background check thing can solve this specific case (no doubt it could for others though). Like should there be laws enforcing parents to keep guns away from certain kids' reach (those with mental health problems or those under a certain age) unless they're supervised? (it sounds like a good idea to me TBH) And how do we enforce those hypothetical laws? (serious question) Or maybe more investment in mental health services for troubled kids as well?

Also, I've no doubt that this person was inspired by other school shooters. It's clearly a vicious cycle, and I hate that it's been so nornalized. No doubt the media'll have 24/7 coverage of this girl and her face everywhere (especially her because "oh wow she's so young!"), and this sensationalization could possibly inspire someone else of a disturbed mental condition and a young age who wants attention to commit a similar crime.

Also (from the article):

Quote
A female teacher disarmed the girl and held her until law enforcement arrived and took her into custody, authorities said, without giving other details.

The true MVP. Who knows how many lives this person saved.
Sad, that this had to happen. (Abdullah’s response is about what I would have said)
