Biden as Warren Harding
Biden was known for running a presidential campaign, mostly from his basement, instead of massive rallies like his opponent, Donald Trump. Biden won, as a return to normalcy candidate, and was relatively popular at first. But many criticized the appointment of Dennis McDonough as Secretary of Veterans Affairs, claiming he only got the job because he was close to Biden. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo helped with aid to some Chinese citizens, after the three gorges dam broke in mid 2022.

Under the presidency of Joe Biden, the world advanced technology-wise, with the use of VR becoming nearly as common as the smart phone. In early 2022, wide-spread worker strikes occurred, further causing supply chain damage.

Biden directed Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh to compromise with many labor unions, and eventually ending most strikes. Criticism over Biden’s immigration policies caused Biden to call on congress to pass stricter immigration laws, but Homeland Security Secretary Monaco urged that these measures would be humane. *Joe Biden replaced Alejandro Mayorkas with Lisa Monaco in late 2022*

Biden appointed many judges to appeals and circuit courts, exceeding his predecessors. He appointed Ketanji Brown Jackson to replace Stephen Breyer in 2022, and Leonard Kruger to replace Sonia Sotamyor in 2023. He also appointed Goodwin Liu to replace John Roberts, after his sudden death from epilepsy. (Breyer retired in June 2022, Sotamayor in June 2023. Roberts died in August 2024).

In the 2022 midterm elections, Joe Biden campaigned saying that he had fulfilled his promises, and the nation had returned to normalcy. However, labor unions and progressives were upset with the compromise that Secretary Walsh had put forth, and didn’t turn out for democrats in 2022, but turned out for more union-friendly republicans. Some legislation that Biden had passed, such as the Immigration Reform Act of 2022, were unpopular with progressives, and even many base democrats. The house ended up being 240 republicans, and 195 democrats. The senate ended up being 52 republicans and 48 democrats.

Biden was remembered for corruption in his cabinet, and failing to live up to many promises.

Many criticized Biden’s frequent trips to Delaware. Joe Biden was diagnosed with cancer, and died in August 2023. His death caused the approval ratings of the new Harris administration to go up drastically. Harris chose OMB director Nani Coloretti as her new VP. The Harris administration continued the economic policies of the Biden administration, but with a more progressive tint. Harris was more successful in passing legislation than Harding, and was generally more popular.
