The numbers coming out of these black Evangelical churches truly disgust me. They above all ought to realize that the ideal of human liberty, once fully conceived, cannot be placed on a back burner; but that liberty is instead accorded to all conscious human beings, regardless of race or orientation, and that any effort to deny them their freedoms is an affront to the concept of 'freedom' itself. I suppose I have work to do: once I join and leave the military (a four-year stint should suffice), I will establish contacts with these black churches as a member of the Democratic Party - and hopefully an elected official - and get them to change their ways.

There's more than enough paranoid (AKA the "I'm not racist but..." people) to make up for the loss of black voters. Dems should drop the white guilt, PC, affirmative action, anti-confederate flag, anti-law and order parts of their platforms. Also, increasingly latin voters are oppositional to blacks so there's that benefit.

Garbage. The Democratic Party must not, and need not, play off any racial group against the other; nor must it oblige conservative inferiority complexes and surrender to anti-liberty, reactionary, dictatorial "law-and-order" campaigning. A purely libertarian campaign can just as quickly capture the hearts and minds of the people and get them to accept homosexual marriage and equality as a part of the normal and natural order of things. Your ideas would confine the Democrats to the South yet again.

There was no real campaign waged against Proposition 8. Any reasonable politico would have seen it as an opportunity to resist the growing secular influence of the Churches and would have been easily able to sway the vote. But even the so-called 'liberals' of today are all cowards, either in complete thrall to the Church or unwilling to buck its influence for fear of electoral retribution.

Give it ten years. Full-on gay marriage will be permitted in at least a dozen states, I guarantee you that.
