Is the Tribunal influenced by the president in any way?
Hi MB, that is the contention of the opposition candidate, Nasralla and his supporters. Election observers are also fretting over the vote count, particuarly multiple delays. My opinion: It's so close, and there's enough suspicion about the delays and Hernandez's potential influence over the results, that it's headed for a recount.

Update: Election tribunal (TSE) says partial recount of disputed ballots (roughly one-quarter of all votes) produced no change: incumbent Hernandez remains in lead by about 1.6%. No winner declared yet. TSE has until Dec. 26 to declare.

The Honduras electoral tribunal (TSE) declared Sunday, Dec. 17, that incumbent President Juan Orlando Hernandez has been re-elected. No word yet from opposition candidate, Salvador Nasralla, but he had said previously he wouldn't recognize the tribunal's official result.
