Is there anything the government wants to be privatize without any so-called public-competition.

They literally own GM and Chrysler(Auto Industries).

They are regulating Banks and they wanna own them.

If crap-n-trade passes, it's possible that the President could nationalize oil industries and coal systems.

They wanna regulate talk-radio put out of business conservatives with the so-called fairness-doctrine, ofcourse they would wanna nationalize media like Hugo Chavez did.

And ofcourse they own medicare, medicaid and social-security.

And they wanna nationalize health care and why doesn't Obama's daughters go to public-schools?

Should we have government regulate grocery-stores to compete with private ones?

Should the same happen to restaurants, aswell?

and how about a government mall?

Why do all these threads turn into insults? It's someone besides me starting it. Let me ask you a question, what do you think about my thread when it come to government?

Your a libertarian, I assume you wouldn't be for government health care and other things, would you?

Well, I'm unsure about the issue of healthcare.  I don't think expanding government is a good thing, but there might be some benefits.  I think that it would be ideal, if we had a healthcare solution that respected the rights of the states.

What doesthat mean, Have the government regulate it?

I don't want roads to be owned by private companies. Nor police forces. Nor the Army.

Actually something I agree with, it should be the STATE governments responsibility to repair roads and other things, and the CITY/COUNTY Responsibility to have the police-force,and the FEDERAL governments responsibility to have an Army for defense, which is suppose to be the sole role government, that and coin money on exactly WHAT the CONSTITUTION allows, not government running anything like a business.

Basic rule of thumb- I don't want anything privatized that will imperil my life or livelyhood if there is a strike. (workers can't strike in the public sector AND if private sector workers can't strike, they usually end up revolting).

Exactly! When the government does something stupid like something goes from a business, YOU CAN'T SUE THE GOVERNMENT, but you can sue business alot more easier.

politcaladdict reminds me of a friend I have at school, a republican hack who doesn't know much about policy who makes fun of my friend/rival, a french liberal socialist who knows some things about policy (but not as much as me). He always centers on arguements when he's arguing with him, and I have to be the mediator. The french kid brings up foriegn policy and then my republican hack friend says stuff like "Want to hear a joke, everyone?" To which the other people (now forming a crowd, of course) say "Yes!" and he responds "The French Military!"and then the french kid says America sucks and all the people in the crowd start shouting "USA!" "USA!" and start making fun of France by saying "Baguette" and "Haha, You guys have been conquered numerous times and lost many wars!"

God it's like a festival of idiots. And this is your friendly neighborhood liberal California school.

Frenchy started calling me a hack, he started it!

Talk about not knowing policy, obviously people who want the government to run everything apparently don't know policy, and congressmen sure don't have knowledge to run businesses!

Wow, something I agree with too.  Government is too centralized today.

I'm not as stupid as some people make me out to be!

The Legislature has the power to provide for the general welfare though...

Yeah, a law imposed by modern liberals such Lyndon B Johnson on medicare and medicaid and FDR's Social-Security.
