that's because of his opponents, not because of anything special about him...
In 1990 and 2002, he didn't have a D opponent, and in 1996, it was a frequent candidate who ran for the D nomination for everything every election.

in that case, you should get your hero eaves to run against him.

against eaves, i bet cochran would do a lot better in the black counties than barbour did.
