Being Bi- Racial and from the south I can tell you that we are not as racist as you may think.

It has more to do with education of the issues, and most white voters here just don't understand them so they vote on other things.  The right wing bible thumpers have alot to do with it aswell.  Obama is not the right candidate for the south maybe if he does a pretty good job in 4 years that can change.

I could win in the south I bet.

Iam proud to be from the south.

Whens the last time a Liberal won in the South?  Carter doesn't count because he ran more moderate when campaigning.

Not saying Race and the Muslim rumors don't play a factor just saying Obamas a lefty and they don't win here.

Depending on how his 4 years go, I can in-vision Obama winning SC, and GA next time around if the GOP continues down the same path.

Give the south a break

NC and VA went for him that's a start.

The Republicans using the religious right have did  a masterful job of pretty much brainwashing voters in the south. Its not racist here like the 1960s people.

With that said if Obama is anything like FDR 4 years from now SC and GA will vote for him.. assuming Gov Palin is the gop candidate.  Obama did better then I thought in SC and my state.

Give us Time.

Fifty years ago it would have been hard for a woman or black person to win most anywhere.

How far we have come.

Iam sure you don't like the New America huh?

Well as a Bi-racial person whenever I see  Big banner of "States rights" and Confederation, that makes me wonder what do you actually support.

You seem like a great guy in term of views - nothing to suggest the R word.

There tends to be a larger margin of error in subsamples.. even if the sub sample is pretty big.

Also. can. someone. explain. to. me. why. any. white. in. the. deep. south. would. vote. for. obama?

There. is. absolutely. postively. NO. ideological. similarities. with. them. and. Obama.

Well for starters it would be in the economic interests of many of them to do so. Also, not all southern whites agree on every single issue.

Theres 2 ways this argument could be put to rest.

1.  A black blue dog Democrat runs in the future or Black republican.

2. Obama has a great 1st term and the Gop runs somebody like Palin.

With those two things we would find out if its really race or pure left vs right ideological issues.
