It should be obvious by now that there wasn't 60 votes for a clean $2000/$1400 check bill without massive means testing added to get Republican support. Or are you forgetting that was the first thing Susan Collins and her gang of "moderates" proposed once Biden and the Senate started reconcilation.

 So dumb, Democrats made inroads with suburban voters many who received the stimulus and now won't. This move doesn't even save much money in the overall bill total.

Manchin is now a firm yes on the Stimulus Bill. I'm not happy about tightening the checks even more but if that's what was holding him back, I guess it was worth it.
