Usually I知 one of the more optimistic members here and I by no means think this will succeed, but im a bit concerned that it has been given attention and 7(!!!) states have joined, what does this all mean? I don稚 want to doom without being given context

I haven't actually seen any states join the lawsuit, just a bunch of conservative Attorney Generals releasing statements in support.

I must admit my own concerns. Not to mention that the PA case was just an injunction and is likely to be merged with this one.

This case is probably going to be dead by Monday so I have to disagree.

The Supreme Court is not going to let one state decide how another state allocates their electoral votes. It's just not going to happen.

Since the responses from the four states are due today, any chance we get a ruling on this tonight?

Ohio filed an amicus brief opposing Texas which shouldn't be surprising but is a nice thing to see.

Nice to see other states speaking out against this.

Is this supposed to get some kind of response today from SCOTUS, or do we not know the timeline until it happens?

The next step is SCOTUS deciding if Texas has leave to file a complaint. There's no real timeframe for when they will issue their decision. If they rule against Texas my guess is that you'd expect a 7-2/6-3 one sentence denial either tomorrow or Monday. If they do agree to hear the case they'd probably also address the motion for enjoining the defendant state's electors so I'd guess it would be a bit longer.

I really hope it doesn't come to that. I know the case would have almost no chance of succeeding, but the longer this drags out, the worse it is for everyone. Hopefully the SCOTUS sees that.

Here I was hoping we'd get a ruling today.   Cry

I mean, we might still get one. But it could also be at any point from now until Monday.
