I always loved the Smothers Brothers, in both the old and newer incarnations of their show.

I knew a guy who played the bass in a local orchestra. Many years ago he got a call asking to rent his bass for a night so Dick Smothers could play it. After much convincing that it wasn’t a joke, he indeed rented his bass to Dick for the night. The brothers were playing a concert in town that night, and Dick’s personal bass got delayed in transit.
