Interesting.  According to the article, they were the last founding member of the OVC still in the conference.  I didn't know that Louisville was once a member.

Seton Hall hangs on to beat UConn 90-87 in OT as a potentially tying 3-pointer at the buzzer by UConn was just off target.

Texas trailed Oklahoma State 52-50 with 3:30 left but went ice cold, scoring only one point thereafter.  They lost 64-51.

Alabama is the new leader for Most Inexplicable Team.  They've beaten Gonzaga, Houston, Tennessee, and Florida -- but lost to Iona, Memphis, Davidson at home, and now to Missouri, the worst team in the SEC outside of Georgia.

#25 Texas Tech just beat #6 Kansas 75-67.

The Big 12 has had some great games today.  Baylor and Iowa State both are in tough games on the road at the moment, at TCU and Oklahoma respectively.

Might the Big Twelve even become a better basketball conference with Texas and Oklahoma leaving?

I wouldn't think so; both Texas and Oklahoma are usually pretty good.   The Big 12 is exchanging those two schools for Houston, Cincinnati, UCF, and BYU.  Houston has been a top team recently, but the other three tend to be up and down.  I don't think they're gaining or losing much either way (considering basketball only; football is a different story).

The way the ACC is playing, barring a shocker in ACC Conference tournament they are a three bid league come March (Duke, North Carolina and Louisville, though Louisville is squarely on the bubble right now.)

Are you forgetting Miami?  They're 13-3 with losses against Alabama, Dayton, and UCF (nothing terrible there), 5-0 in the ACC, and now have a signature win at Duke.

Terrifically entertaining game between Cincinnati and Memphis.  The Bearcats seemingly couldn't miss from 3 and it was back and forth all the way, but the Tigers pulled it out in the last minute to win 87-80.

WEEK 9 RESULTS

COVID was less of a factor this week, with 7 of 41 games canceled; last week it was 15 of 30.  Illiniwek and PA tied at 26-8, while I was a game behind.  (If I hadn't switched from Notre Dame to North Carolina, we'd have had a 3-way tie.)  Full results:

26 Illiniwek, Pessimistic Antineutrino
25 GeorgiaModerate
17 NYE

This moves the overall race back into a tie.  Year to date (181 games):

126 GeorgiaModerate, Pessimistic Antineutrino
120 Illiniwek
106 NYE
67 JGibson
21 Orwell
10 Utah Neolib

And then there were none, as Baylor loses at home 65-62 to Texas Tech, which overcame a 15-point deficit.  Baylor missed a tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.  Tremendously entertaining game.

The most improved team from last season is clearly Iowa State, but Tulane should get an honorable mention.  They're now 4-1 in the AAC with wins over Memphis, Cincinnati, and Wichita State -- the last two on the road.

Does Oregon State get blown out tonight?

Yes.  And to answer your other question, it's hard to pick which of Oregon State or Georgia is worse.  Maybe they should play; it would be the basketball version of the UConn-UMass football game. Wink

Seton Hall just fell to DePaul, which had been 0-5 in the Big East, 96-92.  The Pirates nearly pulled off a comeback for the ages by scoring 16 points in the last 56 seconds.  But the hole was too deep for them to dig out.
