How many people panicked and switched their picks to Minnesota?  Wink + Tongue

Several.  I think I got them all recorded, but everyone should be especially careful to check your results when I post them tomorrow in case I missed something.

WEEK 8 RESULTS

We had a wide range of results this week, from 13-2 all the way down to 6-9.  olawakandi took sole first place, with CraneHusband a game behind and the two New Yorkers another game behind.  Full results:

13 olawakandi
12 CraneHusband
11 NY Express, NYDem
10 JGibson, SWE
9 texasgurl
8 Donerail, Drew, fluffypanther19, Illiniwek, nclib, S019, slimey56
7 ExtremeRepublican, Politics Fan, Terry
6 GeorgiaModerate, Grumps, Thunder98

As always, check your results and let me know if you see a discrepancy.

There were four unanimous picks:

Bills-Dolphins
Bengals-Jets (wrong)
Rams-Texans
Chiefs-Giants

There were no games with a single dissenter, which I think is a first.

fluffypanther19 and S019 remain tied for the overall lead, but there are a bunch of people within striking distance.  Year to date (122 games):

80 fluffypanther19, S019
78 NY Express, Politics Fan
77 JGibson, olawakandi
76 SWE, texasgurl
75 nclib
74 ExtremeRepublican, Grumps, Thunder98
72 CraneHusband, Donerail, GeorgiaModerate
70 Illiniwek, Terry
68 slimey56
65 Drew
22 NYDem
10 Smash255
9 Spark
7 Alben Barkley, Storr
1 Ishan

Aaron Rodgers is out with COVID 19 so I changed my pick to the Chiefs.

I'm switching to the Chiefs as well.

My favorite quarterback may kiss his son on the lips, but at least he doesn't eat horse paste.

There's a sentence that has probably never been written before. Smiley

Aaron Rodgers ruined his legacy. Period. Aaron Rodgers was the left's answer to Tom Brady/Brett Favre. He was smart enough to host Jeopardy! He went to UC-Berkeley not Southern Miss. Aaron Rodgers was a player for the highly educated who dislike the Confederate Flag and want to defund the police after Colin Kaepernick got blacklisted for kneeling.

He was celebrated as the best despite rarely winning the Super Bowl and lacking a competitive edge to put him over the top like Tom Brady. A lot of people are saying that he will no longer be remembered as an option in the GOAT discussion because he is abandoned the people who supported him in the first place. Brady, Manning, etc. won more and got vaccinated. Conservatives count rings, like with Michael Jordan.

Vince Lombardi, who was known for his authoritarian personality, would not have put up with this. He was conservative but was reasonable, supported LGBTQQ+, etc. He would tell his team to get vaccinated and play football. Period.

For a terrific look at Vince Lombardi, I highly recommend the book Instant Replay, Jerry Kramer's chronicle of the Packers' 1967 championship season.   Any NFL fan will likely enjoy it.

The Falcons are trying very hard to give this game away.

Amazingly, after blowing a 24-6 lead with under 8 minutes left to trail 25-24, the Falcons won it 27-25 on a game-ending FG.

Interestingly, when the Saints scored to trail 24-19 they went for two (the correct decision) and failed.  Then when they scored to go up 25-24 they went for two (again the correct decision) and again failed.  But if they'd just kicked the PAT both times, the Falcons' final FG would only have tied it.

With the early games finished, we collectively suck.  The overall record so far is 66-96.  Politics Fan is the only one above water at 5-4, with 11 people at 4-5, five at 3-6, and one at 2-7.

With all the day games done, we've recovered almost to .500 (106-110).  Politics Fan still leads with 8-4, followed by five people at 7-5.

The Titans get two interceptions in 26 seconds -- the first deep in Ram territory, returned to the 2, resulting in a TD on the next play; the second a pick six -- to take a 14-3 lead.

My strategy of picking against the Falcons to make them win is clearly flawed.

A tie was the only appropriate outcome in that game.  If anyone's wondering, a tie counts as a loss in the pick'em -- unless you actually picked the game to tie, which a few people have tried in previous years (never successfully, IIRC).
