Will you guys ever learn not to declare games over until they're actually over?

DIVISIONAL ROUND RESULTS

A wild weekend led to a pretty poor collective showing.  Crane and OC were the only two with a perfect 4-0 this weekend.  Full results:

4-0: CraneHusband, olawakandi
3-1: Illiniwek, texasgurl
2-2: JGibson, nclib, S019
1-3: bagelman, Drew, ExtremeRepublican, fluffypanther19, Grumps, Terry, Politics Fan
0-4: Donerail, GeorgiaModerate, Politics Fan, Thunder98

Playoff totals (10 games):

8 nclib
7 CraneHusband, olawakandi, texasgurl, fluffypanther19
6 GeorgiaModerate, Grumps, JGibson, S019, SWE, Terry, Politics Fan
5 Donerail, Politics Fan, Thunder98
4 Drew, ExtremeRepublican, Illiniwek
3 Lechasseur
1 bagelman

Overall, Politics Fan's lead has shrunk to a single game two games over fluffypanther and S019, with nclib just two three behind. It's a wide open race! Year to date (282 games, regular players only):

181 182 Politics Fan
180 fluffypanther19, S019
179 nclib
174 Terry
172 Donerail
169 GeorgiaModerate, JGibson
168 Grumps, Thunder98
165 texasgurl
164 SWE
162 Illiniwek, olawakandi
161 Drew, ExtremeRepublican
158 CraneHusband

As always, let me know if there's a mistake in your score.

I changed my pick to the chiefs on Friday night.

OK, I've updated the results.  You now have a two-game lead overall.

Everyone: if you change your mind on picks, please post a NEW reply to that effect instead of just editing the OP.  Otherwise it's very easy for me to miss your update (as happened in this case).

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

Exactly nobody picked both games correctly, as all three players who picked the Bengals also picked the 49ers. bagelman, Crane, Drew, ExtremeRepublican, fluffypanther19, Grumps, nclib, olawakandi, Politics Fan, Terry, texasgurl, and Thunder98 were 1-1, while JGibson, S019, and I were 0-2.  I also have the dubious accomplishment of going 6-0 in the first round and 0-6 since.

Playoffs (12 games):

9 nclib
8 Crane, olawakandi, texasgurl
7 fluffypanther19, Grumps, Politics Fan, Terry
6 GeorgiaModerate, JGibson, S019, SWE, Thunder98
5 Donerail, Drew, ExtremeRepublican
4 Illiniwek
3 Lechasseur
2 bagelman

Politics Fan has now clinched the pick'em title with a two-game lead and only one to play.  Year to date (284 games, regular players only):

183 Politics Fan
181 fluffypanther19
180 nclib, S019
175 Terry
172 Donerail
169 GeorgiaModerate, Grumps, JGibson, Thunder98
166 texasgurl
164 SWE
163 olawakandi
162 Drew, ExtremeRepublican, Illiniwek
159 Crane

I correctly predicted LA winning against SF. I would have preferred to be wrong (Odell does not deserve a ring) but that's a second victory for me.

Ah, I see your picks now.  I missed them because they were part of a longer post.  I've adjusted the score and recorded your pick of the Rams in the SB.

I see that Rams defense have doubters when are users gonna learn that Rams defense will sack any QB even Burrow, Burrow won't win another playoff game

You do realize that the Rams recorded zero sacks against the 49ers?  Certainly their QB pressure was a big factor, but they never actually sacked him.

Same here.  The Rams are the superior team on paper, but a Bengals win seems like the appropriate outcome for such an unpredictable season.

Georgia Moderate was a bandwagon when Braves should of lost to Houston Astros and Astros were the Favs, he is too jumping on the Bengals bandwagon, thank goodness the Astros dynasty is over, if the White Sox played the Braves they could of won, the Astros clearly checked that Works Series and they aren't gonna win another for a long time

He is is clearly jumping on the Bengals bandwagon, Joe Burrow has to play the Rams defense not Matthew Stafford that forced Garapolo a fumble

HOUSTON ASTROS STD was called Enron Field before it was changed  to Minute Maid park

I've been a Braves fan for over half a century.  That's a pretty long wagon ride. Wink

It looks like we had eight picks for the Rams and six for the Bengals.

We have had 2 superbowls in a row where the "heel" team got home field advantage and won.

I had no faith in the Bengals to win because of their disaster of an o-line. They made it to the Superbowl through underdog magic and fought against an overrated team, but that o-line is not championship material.

2 bad superbowls in a row. 2 unlikable Divas in a row (Antonio Brown and OBJ) getting rings. OBJ going to inspire Nick Chubb to leave Cleveland or something similar. The stacked deck wins. The rich get richer. Not even in the realm of fun and games may the smallfolk experience the thrill of victory.

The Bills would have eaten that Rams "performance" alive, but they lost in round 2 due to dumb luck against a team of choke artists. Hell, the Titans probably would have won. So would the Chiefs.

I really dislike that a team can have home field advantage during the superbowl. It's not fair, especially as the SB is never hosted by certain cities per their own standards. The NFL needed to have a backup so that didn't happen. Say Jacksonville or Miami gets the "backup" if Los Angeles (either team) gets in, and that would have happened this time. Last Season, Los Angeles or Houston gets the "backup" if the Buccs win so they don't unfairly get homefield.

The backup site idea is completely impractical. You would have a change of site with two weeks before the game in this year’s situation, and cause a huge economic loss to the city it gets moved away from.

Hmm but I thought I just made “bad picks” and got “lucky”.

Politics Fan makes bad picks and gets rewarded for them due to upsets.

Anyway thanks to GeorgiaModerate for running this was a fun contest.

You did. Also it was pretty underhanded to change your pick in one of the playoff rounds without making a new post. I'm sure if it hadn't gone the way you changed it you wouldn't have spoken up. Nice strategy.

He would have won even without the change.  But yes, one reason why I strongly request people to always make a new post when changing a pick is so there will be no questions about it later.  (The other reason is that I'm likely to miss an edit on the original post.)

NFL changes postseason overtime rules to ensure both teams get a possession.

A long overdue change.
