Apparently the Don wants to start a recession now so that it isn't happening in late 2020. At least that's what I'd think if I thought the Don understood how trade works.

Well, if those numbers are true, let's do a little back-of-the-envelope scribbling.  25% of 50 billion is 12.5 billion.  10% of 200 billion is 20 billion.  The total is 32.5 billion.

The U.S. GDP in 2018 was about 20.5 trillion.  Pro-rated for 10 months, it's about 17 trillion.

So if we completely ignore any of the well-documented negative effects on the U.S. economy such as lost business and jobs, the tariffs would have boosted GDP by a maximum of (32B/17T) or about 0.2%.

Lol.... Schiff/Nadler 2020!

So Trump is saying all the Republican investigations into Clinton were incompetent, so he's turning to the Democrats to do a better job?

If the job is too difficult for you, Mr. President, by all means step down and let someone else do the work.

Whenever I click the "new" button on this thread, it does not bring me to the first post I haven't seen. Rather it brings to an earlier post (always to a post with an embedded tweet) that is sometimes from more than a week ago, and that I have seen multiple times since "new" keeps bringing me to it. Does this happen to anyone else??

Yes.

objectively a masterpiece

I'm not going to lie, this might be his best and most creative tweet ever. Seriously, it makes me wonder if he even wrote it. I guess one out of every 87,239,675 are going to be that way.

Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.

Trump is calling out ABC's Jon Karl for correcting him on the Alabama tweet.  It was in fact the NWS office in Birmingham that put out the correction, not Karl.

One more I missed over the weekend:

U.S. President Trump could meet with Iran's Rouhani at U.N. with no preconditions: Pompeo (Reuters, Tue Sep 10, 2019 / 4:29 PM EDT)
Quote
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday that President Donald Trump could meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the upcoming United Nations meeting, with "no preconditions."

Pompeo made the comments at a news briefing to unveil new sanctions on groups including Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

"He is prepared to meet with no preconditions," Pompeo said when asked about the possibility of a meeting at the U.N. General Assembly later this month, echoing comments Trump made on Monday.

Trump himself said he'd be willing to meet Iran with no preconditions during his MTP interview earlier this summer.

I'm sure this tweet coming out immediately after the news of Mr. Trump making promises to foreign leaders that his own Intelligence Inspector General finds cause for "urgent concern" is sheer chance.

Isn't it funny how polls showing weak support for impeachment are important, but the same polls showing poor Trump approval numbers are rigged?

Imagine if an athlete went on Twitter tirades for days on end about every little piece of criticism he received. Imagine if he called referees and journalists and opposing players "enemies" and suggesting they lose their jobs for criticizing him. Would that athlete's team tolerate that? Certainly not.

Well, the New England Patriots might. Wink

Every tweet is a confession.

My God, he's gone full on third person in referring to himself.

Naw, he's quoting Gohmert.

Maybe he can ask OJ for help finding the real corruption. (Over lunch, in the prison cafeteria.)

OJ has been out of prison for a couple years.

Time to go after Mitt once again...

Well, Mitt didn't ask the Russians to hack his opponent's email.  That might have helped him.

Trump seems to be a bit peeved with Romney.
