I'm pretty confident that atleast 40-45% of Republicans has a college degree, which makes it even more hilarious.

The data in https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/09/13/how-the-gop-became-the-party-of-less-educated-whites-and-donald-trump/?utm_term=.7cd0ebc8ae25 indicates about 30% of R or R-leaning voters have a degree; for D and D-leaning, it's about 36%.
