back then the still relatively recent legacy of the pre-1974 local government system meant that there were traces of organization all over the place.
What changed to cause parties to athrophy in these areas ?

Kinda wondering how long the British far-right is going to remain electorally collapsed, Reform and Reclaim seem to have flopped but all those BNP/UKIP voters didn't just vanish.

No seismic losses for Labour in Liverpool, despite all that has happened.
One ward was won with 91 votes. No, you did read that correctly, not by, with.
Any reason it was so low turnout ?

IIRC they've re-done the new wards based on future modelling of population or something weird and some of the city centre ones have v few actual residents (restaurants & hotels can't vote!)
That seems to be pretty dumb, what happens if those models are wrong ?

I think we should wait to see if they are able to entrench any of their council gains before declaring the green moment has arrived. They've just lost brighton and hove which was the only council they'd ever lead an administration in.

btw what's with the original Liberal Party so well in Tuebrook and that area? One wouldn't think Liverpool West Derby to be the bastion of British Liberalism. Why are the locals so infatuated with a dying brand?

These people have no claim to the Liberal Party of Gladstone and Lloyd George. It's just a small rightwing personal vehicle of Steve Radford.

Is he that right-wing?  He once stood for the European Parliament as part of a hard left slate ("No2EU").

Tbf, I think that was just a slate for all manner of anti-EU cranks who for whatever reason didn’t fit in UKIP.
I remember UKIP's trans MEP joined it.
