I love it when libertarians find total emptiness fulfilling.
You're presuming what's empty for you is empty for another person. Anyway I think I'd vote for option 2, but don't hold me to it. Love without sex isn't really that different from a platonic relationship. Friendship with sex isn't that much different from even a lot of 'good' relationships. You really need a mix of both IMO, trying to separate them is just sort of unrealistic.

Sorry for being able to find fulfillment outside of love.

Any fulfillment you find outside of love will never last.
To be honest I haven't dated anyone in several years and no, it's really not much of a loss so far. Then again most people around here are idiots. Maybe I'll feel differently in a year or two.

Are you silly enough to think that sex without love doesn't lead to emotional issues?
I think it depends on the person. But on a simple level (re: natural instincts), we don't really 'need' love. It's something that's arisen out of societal expectations plus an extension of natural affections we might feel. Short of castrating yourself or something you are always going to have some kind of sex drive though.

Additionally, dating does not necessarily equal love.

Obviously.

I'm not saying I have zero interest, just that it's not a huge priority and frankly I'm sort of skeptical.

...I can name a few exceptions, but for the most part I can't deal with women... [snip] Oh boy, I'm gonna be labeled a mysoginist.
I like you but yeah, that's pretty much the definition.

This thread is painfully predictable.

Nothing I didn't already know. Sort of sad though.

So I hate gays even when I want to give them the same rights that straight couples have without calling it marriage?

I'm afraid that's the whole point of his criticism. Besides even if it is the same as marriage, what's the point of not calling it that? Obviously because it makes you uncomfortable.
