It is January 2021, and the GOP is in shambles. Their incumbent president Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden by a landslide 369-169 margin. Texas (their electoral stronghold) was also right on the verge of flipping. They lost states they thought were comfortably going to go to them like Ohio and Maine's 2nd congressional district. They were also reduced to 185 seats in the House of Representatives and lost their Senate majority, being reduced to 48 seats. The GOP knew the and there that sweeping reforms would have to be made to the party if they hoped to remain competitive. A recent poll after the election came out saying that 49% would not support the GOP in it's current state again which was another sign that things were not going well for the GOP. Will the GOP go the way of the Whigs or will they find a new platform that can better appeal to moderate and independent voters? Find out in this timeline.
