Oh. You wrote a story about a half-Italian half-Jewish Catholic woman with a BA in literature who's a CIA field agent. That's so Nathan.

The corporal originally from Hawaii sounds like she's usually a Republican but went for Biden this year after the "losers and suckers" comment. I could be wrong though.

Next person, who is the wife of my last character and so I don't need to tell you who she's inspired to:

Gender - Female
Age - 55
Race - White
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married, with two children
Religion - Catholic but less serious than her husband
Hometown - Lake City, Erie County, PA
Current location - Erie, PA
Education - BA in Francophone Studies from Penn State
Occupation - Works for the Erie Visitor's Center
Hobbies - Reading (especially crime stories); cooking; listening to oldies music
Other things of note -
Illegal immigration and education are the two political issues that interest her the most;
Finds her husband's jokes very unfunny.

Mung Beans's guy is likely a lifelong Conservative voter who backed Remain in 2016 and dislikes Boris Johnson but has no plans to change parties.

Next hypothetical person:
Gender - Male
Ethnicity - French
Age - 23
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Single
Location - Laguna Niguel, CA
Hometown - Scranton, PA
Religion - Somewhat agnostic Catholic
Education - High school graduate
Occupation - Bookshop employee
Other - Gets a guilty pleasure from reading conservative Catholic outlets. Basically never watches TV and has almost zero presence on social media. His best friend is the following character I created a while back.

Gender - Officially male, but questioning
Ethnicity - Italian and Japanese
Age - 26
Sexual orientation - Asexual; biromantic
Relationship status - Single
Location - Easton, PA
Hometown - Trenton, NJ
Religion - Episcopalian
Education - High school graduate
Occupation - Bookshop employee
Other - Interested in theology, some politics and very little else. Hates mainstream media. Drinks heavily.

If the last one is Shakespeare's Othello updated to the 21st century: damn, awesome. 10/10
If he is actually a character from a recent (Italian?) book, then I have no idea who this is.

Either way, probably some sort of "national security conservative" but otherwise fairly moderate/liberal-leaning. May actually have voted Scelta Civica in 2013 and definitely liked Monti. Probably sucked it up and voted PD in 2019 but has now jumped ship with either Calenda or Renzi.

Someone else create the next character. I'm still having my head spin over this. It MUST be Othello right?

Yours is Othello, and is a Luciana Lamorgese-esque unideological center-left-adjacent national security institutionalist.

I'm almost surprised you even know who Luciana Lamorgese is, as she's basically never on the news here (especially, ahem, compared to her predecessor). And it's definitely the first time ever I hear someone using her as a term of comparison. Spot-on though.

The bisexual army officer in Wiltshire strikes me as some kind of socially liberal / culturally conservative / economically odd New Labour - Cameron??? - Lib Dems voter. I don't know, it's gut feeling.

Keeping up with the literary nerdfest, and using a *very* special character, in the vein of Mung Beans's:

Gender - Male
Age - 55
Race - White
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Residence and hometown - Padua, Italy
Religion - Roman Catholic
Relationship status - Married, two daughters
Profession - Doctor
Education - Graduate from San Raffaele University (private university in Milan affiliated with the homonym hospital)
Income - 80,000 euros a year
Other - From a wealthy, landowning family. Sets strict rules about the social lives of his daughters.

Othello struck me as a perfect Shakespeare character to "modernize" since he isn't a monarch or aristocrat like so many other protagonists. Lamorgese seems interesting though there isn't much English language info on her.

I've no idea who yours is (was thinking Salo for a moment, but none of those characters are heterosexual) but he's definitely a right-winger in politics. Possibly a Lega Nord supporter, but he strikes me as an aristocrat with fascist sympathies like Evola or Borghese so I would say he's a hardline nationalist and nativist supporter of Fratelli d"italia.

Noooooo I said it was in the vein of yours! It was none other than... my namesake. Battista Minola, from Shakespeare's The Taming Of The Shrew.
And I agree he'd be a right-winger, though I think not as radical as you've made him.

Gender - Female
Age - 41
Race - White
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Widow (had a daughter who died together with her husband)
Religion - Catholic (not very orthodox - better described as folk Catholicism)
Hometown - Verona, Italy
Current location - Verona, Italy
Education - Graduate from professional high school
Occupation - Baby sitter
Other things of note -
She specifically cares after a 13-year-old girl from a rich family whose parents both have to be away from home for extended periods of time. She is almost a second mother for the girl, and the girl is almost a second daughter for her.
Not very knowledgeable or educated on most topics, and frequently commits mistakes while speaking.

Battista Minola went down worse than Othello... let's see this one.

Peter Griffin! Technically he was born in Mexico though. Anyway, "New England secular moderate" voter who went Obama-Obama-Trump-Biden.

Yet other two characters in the same vein, because Shakespeare for some reason loved Veneto so much.

Gender - Male / Male
Age - 37 / 56
Race - White / White
Sexual orientation - Homosexual / Heterosexual
Relationship status - Civilly united / Single
Religion - Christian / Jewish
Residence - Venice (Rialto) / Venice (Jewish ghetto)
Education - Both college graduates in Economics
Occupation - Merchant (sells stuff from the Orient in a store on the Rialto Bridge) / Moneylender
Other - The former owns big money to the latter. They hate each other; the former is also clearly an anti-Semite and the latter is clearly homophobic. Neither is particularly religious but both are viscerally attached to their respective identities for cultural reasons.

1. I don't think I would go along well with this person at all.
2. Interests and theological leanings suggest easily a Republican, but I would guess that she dislikes Trump and that she voted for some random third party both in 2016 and 2020. Also communitarian-ish.

Speaking of people I don't go along well with, here's one.
Gender - Female
Age - 65
Ethnicity - Italian
Religion - Atheist (and fairly anti-clerical)
Relationship status - Lives with her partner, she usually calls him her "husband" as a shorthand but they're not actually married
Education - Graduate in English Language and Literature
Occupation - High school English teacher
Hometown - Somewhere in Northern Italy
Current location - Somewhere nearby La Spezia, Italy
Hobbies - Endurance horse riding, pets in general, food
Other things of note:
Lived in New York for a period
Quite loudly animalist and feminist
Big supporter of the death penalty
Weirdly apologetic of British colonialism

It's fairly obvious what relationship I have/had with this person.

Almost certainly a Five Star Movement supporter, if not, an ardent supporter of Emma Bonino.

Lol. She was my high school English teacher and I don't think you got particularly close to the mark. She always struck me as the type who'd consider M5S bumbling idiots and she isn't remotely left-wing at all. I'm pretty sure she votes Lega.

Asenath Waite's character is horrifyingly fascinating. She sounds deep into 16th century Ireland LARPing and she probably doesn't vote at all. I would guess she has a hard dose of nationalism and old-time nostalgia, dislikes muh political correctness / social-justice-warrior-ism, and has inconsistent but quasi-distributist, quasi-feudalist economic views. Probably also strongly against abortion and disturbed by the 2018 Irish referendum. If she does vote it's random minor parties in the United States and, if applicable, random minor parties in Ireland as well, but would vote Sinn Féin in Northern Ireland because Tiocfaidh ár lá.

Next hypothetical person:
Gender - Male
Age - 20
Race (Ethnicity) - Asian (Filipino)
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Has a girlfriend
Religion - Agnostic (raised in a semi-practicing Catholic household)
Current location/Hometown - Madison, WI
Education - High school graduate
Occupation - Studying Physics at UW-Madison
Interests - Classic rock music, crosswords, physics memes, browsing porn websites (hides the latter to everyone else)
Other -
Low-key abusive towards his girlfriend
Has a wide array of weird sexual fetishes and is in self-denial about all of them
Has repeatedly considered giving up college

I think Asenath's character is almost certainly pro-abortion even if not for liberal pro-choice reasons considering most pre-Christian societies such as Classical Rome/Greece, pre-modern China, India etc. tolerated not just abortion but even infanticide in some cases. I had your previous person tagged as a 19th Century liberal btw, but felt she'd be on the secular right nowadays.

I think your character is mostly apolitical but goes on 4chan/gamer type sites often enough that he probably voted Trump this year, after flirting with Andrew Yang in the primaries. Could be a potential recruit for the Proud Boys.

Yeah, but I don't know what the Celts thought exactly, and her interests overlap with a Christian period as well, although I remember Nathan once mentioning medieval Irish saints legends where the miracle performed by the saint... is a termination of pregnancy. She mostly sounds like someone who'd have very few positions that are 'liberal' or 'modernist' - which indeed on abortion means pretty much either mine or your description.

And it's funny that you mention 19th century liberalism because my English teacher actually seemed to be fond of Disraelite One Nation Conservatism.

Your character is I guess Lester Burnham of American Beauty in the alternate world where he survives the gunshot.
It's hard to stay mad when there's so much beauty in the world...
I have no idea what his politics before the crisis were, but I would think that since then his views have been some sort of conservative centrist who cares a lot about morality, hard to explain precisely but he gives me Kingpoleon and Ernest vibes. His recent voting record is consistently Democratic.

Someone else create the next person.

Asenath's character sounds like she might actually be the actual Asenath Waite! goodforher.gif

I actually thought about that! But I sidetracked. It'd be fair game since some days ago I used the original Battista Minola as character.

Your descendant of Ayyub Khan probably is either an obnoxious apologist of her ancestor and of all strongmen in the world who voted for Trump (twice?) or a shallow librul who follows every new #idpol and #woke trend of the day and votes solidly Democratic.

Damn I was jinxed.

Kuumo's definitely voted Biden in 2020 and I may see him as someone who started Republican but switched somewhere in the early 2010's. I am not sure. I don't know what fictional character he is.

Next hypothetical person:
Gender - Male
Age - 27
Race (Ancestry) - White (Dutch)
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married (one son)
Hometown/Current location - Holland, Michigan
Religion - Calvinist (CRCNA)
Education - High school graduate
Occupation - Has started a craft brewery with his wife and a friend
Interests and hobbies - Reading classics, studying geography, composing poems, tulips, hiking, fountain pens
Other things of note -
He doesn't own a TV nor a mobile phone nor a PC.
He is not particularly attached to his denomination and considers his religious faith a very private matter.
He usually strongly objects to categorizing things like fashion accessories, hairstyles and toys as 'for men' and 'for women'.
He considers himself a pacifist.

Nathan's is Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights? More than "very close"...
His vindictive senses may actually make him a good candidate for Disgusted-Of-Tunbridge-Wells attitudes and UKIP/Leave voting.

Since Christian Indians were mentioned, here is the slightly Americanized version of someone I know and I have actually already mentioned on this forum:
Gender - Female
Age - 26
Race (Ethnicity) - Asian (Zo people)
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Single
Religion - Baptist
Hometown - Churachandpur, India
Current location - DFW
Education - Degree in Philosophy
Occupation - Currently pursuing a master in Theology
Other - Can speak four languages; fascinated by Italy; has many siblings in India

Definitely a Democrat with a somewhat socially conservative bent. May have come from a Republican family and initially voted for Romney but became more liberal when she got out on her own.

Yeah, Democrat with a socially conservative bent is exactly how I imagine her if she lived in the USA.
The real person I used as a basis lives in Churachandpur and attended university in Delhi. She's never actually voted because she was always registered in Manipur while in university. My understanding is that she dislikes BJP and Modi but I don't know otherwise, in part because I don't know how exactly Manipuri tribal ethnic strifes relate to party politics.

Your liquor store guy in South Boston is basically an Edward J. King Democrat I guess (and a big racist). Voted Wallace in 1968 (from Vietnam?), loved Reagan, probably didn't dislike Clinton, and is very Trumpy today.

Next person, inspired by a trick Nathan pulled some pages ago but upping the ante:

Gender - Male
Age - That would be telling
Race - White/Middle Eastern
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married, three children
Religion - Jewish, very devout
Current location - mmh... rural Israel
Education - Little to none
Occupation - Farmer
Interests and hobbies - Wine. A lot of wine

No prizes for guessing who this is.

Because I'm a troll, I'm going to say Hadash for Jesus, though he might consider voting for Meretz once in a while.

Good trolling, but wrong person.

I don't think Jesus was a farmer or was married.

Correct observation.

The private in Munich is obviously Adolf Hitler, so nowadays would spout (((Pepe the Frog))) memes on German 4chan, spread tabloid stories of Muslim rapefugees on Facebook, and vote AfD or if he's into the rabbit hole enough NPD.

The guesses for my last character are still open. Someone else feel free to go next.

The former character is either a smug frat bro a**hole Republican or someone who outwardly presents like that but in reality is an emotionally troubled liberal Democrat, even on the left side of the party.

Next hypothetical person:
Gender - Female
Age - 29
Race (Ancestry) - White (English/German)
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married (one son)
Hometown - Battle Creek, Michigan
Current location - Holland, Michigan
Religion - raised Lutheran, drifted towards Calvinism during engagement
Education - College degree in business management
Occupation - Same as her husband (see below)
Interests and hobbies - Local history, tulips, hiking, skirts and dresses, reading religious commentary
Other things of note -
She is mostly occupied with the administrative stuff in her job.
She often thinks that her husband is overly idealistic.
She dislikes the use of the expression 'working people/class' to refer to poorer strata of society, as she thinks the implication is that the rest don't do actual work.
Wife of this previous character of mine.

Next hypothetical person:
Gender - Male
Age - 27
Race (Ancestry) - White (Dutch)
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married (one son)
Hometown/Current location - Holland, Michigan

- Young woman
- Japan
- Fairly observant Catholic
- A LOT of Japan

Yeah, got it. Insert "leftcath starter pack" meme here. However somewhat more pragmatic/centrist.

The next is a real person:
Gender - Male
Age - 68
Ethnicity - Italian
Hometown - Rome, Italy
Current location - Rome, Italy
Religion - Generic theist
Education - Attended college, never finished
Occupation - Journalist and politician
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married
Other things of note -
He is half-Jewish and was raised in a Communist family.
Once started a single-issue party which had a very short and inconclusive life.
Notoriously often the subject of ridicule and satire, which he doesn't take too well.

You didn't answer for Battista's so I'll provide one I guess.

I'm guessing Battista's is some kind of an irreverent left-libertarian who attacks most aspects of society including government, bureaucracy, the corporate sector, the Church etc. but sensitive to criticisms of himself and his single issue party was some kind of proto-Five Star Movement/Pirate Party type organization though less anti immigrant than 5SM.

SKIP

I'm sorry, but you couldn't have been more wrong. My guy, Giuliano Ferrara, had a PCI -> PSI -> (a)theocon shift, briefly ran an anti-abortion party in 2008 and is now an unlikely member of the Christian Right, so to speak.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giuliano_Ferrara

EastOfEden's character is probably an independent who straddles the libertarian-populist line and has sort of paleocon sympathies. Voted Johnson or Trump in 2016, flirted with Andrew Yang, and didn't bother to vote in 2020.

I'll let someone else restart.

I am not too much of an expert in Australian political cleavages, but an agnostic female chemist in a rich hippiefied touristic town sounds easily like a Green voter.

This one I originally construed starting from certain political leanings in another thread, but is also inspired to a real person:
Gender - Male
Age - 79
Race - White
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married (two children)
Hometown - A farm in Etowah County, Alabama
Current location - A house in the woods in Etowah County, Alabama
Religion - Catholic
Education - High school graduate
Occupation - Retired bank clerk
Interests and hobbies - Reading, charitable activities, political news
Other things of note -
Doesn't like at all to be surrounded by a lot of Southern Baptists
Considers FDR and Truman political heroes
Ready to jump on any economic policy proposal or bill which according to him "doesn't add up"

Favors a strong, assertive US foreign policy, is fiscally conservative. Electorally, he is probably no outlier in Alabama - voted Democratic when Democrats were dominant and voted Republican when Republicans were dominant. Voted consistently Republican in presidential elections since Nixon. The last Democrats he voted for statewide were Shelby, maybe Heflin, maybe Siegelman, and MAYBE Jones. Does not like Trump but voted for him anyway. He liked Romney more.

Sad

He was heavily modeled after my paternal grandfather and it was supposed to be an ancestral Democrat who's never stopped voting blue and was outraged by the 2017 tax cuts. But yeah it wasn't too convincing.

Uhm let's see this one:

Gender - Male
Age - 57
Race - White (mixed British/Irish/German)
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married, with three children
Hometown - Downey, California
Current location - Vail, Colorado
Education - High school graduate
Occupation - Singer-songwriter and guitarist (plays in a band)
Religion - Not necessarily practicing nor affiliated with any denomination, but quite Christian-leaning
Hobbies - Hunting, beekeeping, customized cars and motorcycles, watching sports
Other things of note -
Mother died of cancer when he was 16. It could have been avoidable, let's say.
Has had anger management problems and addiction problems, but has later embraced straight edge culture.
Is full of tattoos, including Christian ones and a straight edge X one.

Conservative leaning independent (the rare conservative on his music scene) His mother (who died of liver cancer) from a lack of insurance has made him open to the idea of Universal Health Care. At the same time it was reflecting on her alcoholism (which triggered that cancer) that caused him to get sober that led to his developing a conservative attitude towards drugs and alcohol towards drugs and he supports paternalistic measures aimed at curbing addiction. In both his Libertarian and more socially conservative phase he's voted Republican fairly consistently except for Perot in 92, Obama in 08 and Evan McMullian in 2016. Despite having a strong and longstanding dislike for Trump he reluctantly held his nose and voted for him in 2020 due primarily to fears about the impact that another round of lockdowns could have on what remained of the music scene.

Wow, this is certainly a quality effort, but is very likely wrong.
My character was no less than Metallica frontman James Hetfield (compare my current display name, lol).
His mother rejected cures for cancer because she was a strict Christian Scientist (so was his father). This upbringing is reflected in songs such as The God That Failed or Mama Said or Until It Sleeps.
He is not really public about his political views and I doubt he is exactly a liberal, but I suspect his voting record is much less Republican than you made it.

Not very political, economically #populist and liberal on muh social issues, but seems a good candidate for the "succdem to nazbol pipeline". So I guess that his political evolution in 2020 is basically ShadowOfTheWave but more unserious about it, and in the end did not bother to vote.

For my next character I'll add a twist to an old one:
Gender - Male
Age - 48 49
Race (Ancestry) - White (Irish/Jewish)
Hometown - Saint Paul, MN
Current location - Salerno, Italy
Marital status - Married with two children one child (his wife is Italian)
Religion - Devout but idiosyncratic Christian, culturally Catholic so to speak, frequently prays alone in church but seldom attends the Mass Very idiosyncratic Christian, culturally Catholic, theologically ambivalent-to-nihilist
Education - Bachelor's degree in Italian literature
Occupation - Runs a B&B, writes for an American journal of literature, gives private lessons in English
Hobbies and interests - Comparative theology, bathing in Amalfi (year-round), Neapolitan food
Favourite authors - Dante Alighieri, Gabriele D'Annunzio, T. S. Eliot
Other - Emigrated in 2000; voted for Perot twice had a second child who died from an overdose at a nightclub party at age 18; is now a massive hater of "nightclub culture" so to speak; has many connections among the organizers of the Giffoni Film Festival

Asenath Waite's character is likely a lifelong Democrat, in some way more culturally than ideologically so, although he may have voted for Nixon in 1972 and maybe for Reagan in 1984. Supported Warren in the 2020 primaries out of a discomfort with seeing old money Republicans turned #NeverTrump all backing Joe Biden, but obviously voted for him in the general election.

Continuing with the series of 30-something female nurses:
Gender - Female
Age - 33
Race (Ancestry) - Mestiza (Dominican)
Sexual orientation - Bisexual
Relationship status - Single
Hometown - Cadiz, Spain
Current location - Zaragoza, Spain
Occupation - Nurse at intensive care ward
Religion - Fervent Catholic
