It depends on (scary quotes) "how Catholic he is" but I am imagining him as a market liberal who doesn't care for most muh social issues but is pro-life, and also as the kind of gay who doesn't care for gay marriage. Probably disaffected, is voting Biden, but doesn't mind ACB.

Bland Liberal/Conservative swing voter much? I don't know.

Pleeeeease someone who knows Italian politics do my last character again, since pikachu only answered the American part.

This guy likely doesn't see the point in voting, and is not registered. I can't imagine he has much patience for the 'Religious Right' but neither that he has any for 'political correctness'.

The only match I could find for "TV show based on an autobiography by a Chinese American" is Fresh Off the Boat (Eddie Huang). I'm not convinced.
As for politics, this guy is a solid liberal Democrat but probably doesn't appreciate the woke Twitter set and/or the 'wealth tax & defund the police' crowd.

Diese sittsam Jungfrau Die Linke/Die Grünen Wählerin ist!
A.k.a. hard left on every issue that is not about life ethics or sexual morality, where she is a trad. I don't know if "Lutheran left" is a thing in the same way "Catholic left" is a thing, but that.
Man, we badly need such a woman on this forum.

I find the "Japan lover" aspect of it oddly fitting and I am not sure why.

Yeah I would love a poster like her on this forum. To be fair, I don't think she'd be a Green voter though given the culturally left and urban liberal orientation of the party-I would think she'd either be on the SPD Left or Dis Linke.

It's interesting how Catholic intellectuals often are Japanophiles.

I don't think either, and my original reply included only Die Linke, but I thought (as a secondary choice) she might also have the mindset "stewardship of the Earth = GREEN PARTY!"; I should have specified this better.

And yeah. The Atlas Forum Leading Catholic Intellectual is also one.

I hope having an Argentinian didn't scare off potential responders. As a gesture of reconciliation, I will offer an American one though I hope people will respond to this one too.

I'll try doing your Welsh Argentinian if you do this character of mine whose Italian politics were left unanswered (from what I've seen you seem pretty knowledgeable on Italian politics):

Sexual Orientation: Straight
Relationship Status: Engaged

Runs a Facebook meme page on Argentinian politics

Well I'll do this one anyways, to get things straight, even though General Mung Beans didn't really do mine.

From the location I'd say likely peronist/justicialist, but of the Dissident variety, not the Kirchnerist one. He probably voted Fernández in 2019 anyways? However he is also probably a sort of "outside observer" to his country's politics.

Self-described democratic socialist who voted for Sanders in the primary (though he considered voting for Gabbard, but thought she had "reactionary" tendencies). Refused to vote for Biden, and wrote in Eugene V. Debs in the general. Very left-wing overall.

That's kind of surprising because I tried to create someone who despite stereotypically left-wing characteristics had precisely "reactionary tendencies". Lol

As for your last one, small-l liberal who was probably Republican-leaning as a youth but now usually votes Democratic; however he privileges "good government" and hates Andrew Cuomo.

Extremely small-l libertarian and pretty right-wing on economic matters, she often doesn't bother to vote, in part because of the lack of competitive general elections in California, and when she does she generally makes write-ins or votes for the Libertarian candidate.

Next person:
Gender - Male
Age - 22
Race - White
Religion - Catholic
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Single
Profession - Graphics intern for a politics website (works from home)
Education - Graduated from UCLA
Hometown - San Francisco, CA
Current location - Just moved to New Orleans, LA, his childhood dream
Interests - Record collecting, Cajun and soul food, learning French

Other: He is the estranged son of the previous character. Raised atheist, converted to Catholicism between 2016 and 2017; it was partly sparked by the death of his father. Extremely critical (in private) of almost all of his mother's life choices, although he has taken from her the passion for collecting old music records. His friends nickname him "Neil Young" because he often wears flannel shirts.

Given most Protestants in Catholic countries tend to be left-leaning, I would guess the Democratic Party.

Technically a centre-left independent but yeah. He's former President of Friuli-Venezia Giulia Riccardo Illy, whose grandfather founded Illycaffè.

Yours is presumably the very rare Republican trans person. He likely has lots of gripes with the Religious Right but I would guess admires Trump and is alt-right-curious.

I'll let someone else create the next character.

Mung Beans's last one is quite interesting. I think she is rather conservative from a philosophical/cultural point of view, but her disconnect from pop culture also means she is not very updated on the social media culture wars and stuff. Presumably vaguely left-leaning on economics but nothing too specific. Votes consistently Democratic out of a sense that Republicans are unserious kooks.

Is this Sue Trinder from Fingersmith by Sarah Waters?

Of course she is a non-voter for the simple reason that she is too young, but even when she comes of age I wouldn't expect that kind of person to actually come out to vote.

Another literary character (who is actually a real person if you want):

Gender - Male
Age - 30
Ethnicity - Italian
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Apparently engaged; complicated relationship
Hometown and residence - Turin, Italy
Education - Clearly high
Occupation - Writer/intellectual
Religion - Non-religious
Other - He is a fairly active participant in democratic life, and has party membership, but doesn't identify as a political activist.

Nathan stop using people who are *too young to vote! Not to mention that elections don't exist in Saudi Arabia, in case he then takes its citizenship. Not to mention that I don't even know the country of origin of this guy, although very likely it's in North America or Europe. Lol
In any case, he has likely very right-wing political views.

*well if he's Austrian for example I think he can vote.

I didn't manage to find out who that is though. Sad

Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married, with two children
Hometown - Achuqalla, Bolivia
Current location - El Alto, Bolivia
Religion - Catholic
Education - High school
Occupation - Municipal employee
Other things of note -
Resents the Fejuve movement
Weirdly bigoted towards Quechua people

Mine was Paul Atreides from Dune, and he is very much politically active in the book despite his age. Besides, plenty of people too young to vote have strong political views--hell, I was seventeen when I became a Talk Elections blogger!

*skip*

Bruhhh
The friend of mine who likes weird history - and loves David Lynch - actually mentioned Paul Atreides from Dune from time to time (generally to use it as an antonomasia of cringe because he thinks the film is among Lynch's worst).
I am aware that many very young people have strong political views - but the fun part of this is to decide who the characters actually vote for.

His dislike of Fejuve as well as the Quechua and somewhat more middle class background such as multilingualism suggest he has centre-right sympathies. Supported Mesa in the Bolivian election.

To be fair I wasn't implying a middle-class background at all, my idea was more that he has a friend/colleague/whatever who's German, like, completely at random, and he likes languages. But your answer is good anyways.

Yours 'feels' like he should be a Republican, but something doesn't convince me. I will say instead an unlikely Democrat who will not stop blaming Republicans for the Iraq War, the trauma it caused him, and wars in general. He voted Bush in 2004 however.
I wonder whether I know any of the two characters he's taken from.

Next is another fictional character:
Gender - Female
Age - 47
Race - White Latina apparently?
Relationship status - Single
Hometown - San Francisco, CA
Current location - Northern Virginia
Education - Some college
Occupation - Technical Analyst
Interests - Online games, flashy clothes
Other - Her parents both died when she was 18; she is a former hacker; she easily gets overly emotional

She doesn't *live* in San Francisco. She was originally from there but she (presumably) lives in Northern Virginia.

Ughhh I was "ninja'ed" twice... anyway, my answer to Brother Jonathan's character was the same (critical support to Fine Gael, but into weird right-wing parties, most recently Renua) and my answer to Nathan's character was the same (a mainstream Democrat).

Ishan's to me sounds very much a conservative Republican, but probably voted for Bill Clinton twice and was a Democrat until the 2000's.

Next person:
Gender - Male
Age - 54
Race - White
Sexual orientation - Heterosexual
Relationship status - Married, two children
Religion - Catholic
Hometown - North East, Erie County, PA
Current location - Erie, PA
Education - JD from Penn State
Occupation - Lawyer
Hobbies - Swimming in Lake Erie; Christian news podcasts; sociopolitical essays; a family-owned small plot of land in North East Township
Other things of note -
His presidential voting history is exactly tied between Democrats and Republicans;
Makes politically incorrect jokes and resorts to excessive hyperbole all the time;
Unlikely fan of Michael Moore.

Assuming he started voting when he was eighteen in 1984, Reagan-Dukakis-Clinton-Clinton-Bush-Bush-Obama-Romney-Trump-Biden. Romney's the one I'm least sure about, but I do see him as having developed an anti-incumbent streak over the years.

Mine was my stepfather, and yeah, his voting behavior is Generic D, although his actual views On The Issues are a bit further left.

Someone else feel free to create the next character!

Mine was an Americanized and slightly tweaked version of my father - and in particular, set at one year older to make a 1984 vote possible. The voting behaviour I had in mind was Reagan-Bush-Clinton-Clinton-Bush-Kerry-Obama-Obama-Trump-Trump (give or take either 1992 or 2012 in exchange for 2000) although I suspect I was fairly generous towards Democrats.

Someone else feel free to create the next character as well.
