This is interesting, but the Democratic-Conservative merger is a bit puzzling. While Bill Clinton was a southerner and took conservative positions when it suited him politically, he and Hillary had a clearly-defined liberal brand and were much more inclined to northeastern/metropolitan liberalism than rural populism.
