This race is likely to be close until the end.  The typical rule about an incumbent being below 50% being in big trouble doesn't apply here.  Both candidates are known quantities.  That said, the GOP needs the strongest possible candidates all across the state, for Governor as well, and it would probably be in Ayotte's best interest for Guinta to quit or for him to be defeated in the primary.
