Dark Red: States I couldn't tolerate living in and have little respect for.
Light Red/Pink: States I could deal with living in and have some respect for.

I hope you know MO isn't part of the South, but MD and DE are part of the south.
using census definition yes but historically MO is just as much as the other two as it was a slave state and the governor did try to secede from the union in the civil war [though im not sure if the rest of the state gov was with him on that id have to go back and read my civil war history] and from what i can tell its a mix today of southern and Midwestern.

and to the OP i myself dont dislike the south that much other then it being way too hot for my tastes though i do take issue with some people from the south who seem to think its a superior region and yes i dont like the people who hate so hard on the south from the north either regionalism is rather outdated in this day and age however i strongly disagree that obama needs to appoint someone from the south to a cabinet post he should pick the most qualified and who hes most comfortable with not try and appease different groups of people what does it matter if some idiot from the north or the south or the west gets appointed to some post as long as they do their jobs it really shouldnt matter.
