liberation. Greenland is mostly self-governed at this point. There is no reason for them to subordinate themselves to the US government which might meddle with their affairs. Besides, I don't see how the Greenlandish legal, social, economic, and educational system could be incorporated in the US system with the Greenlanders getting the better end of it. Greenland has a single-payer-healthcare system, free education, and student grants for students who attend university. There is no reason to join a country that mistakenly thinks that these are not good things. It would be a good start for the US to treat their actual territories in the way OP described.
