Bill White would be about as strong of a candidate the Democrats could get in Texas and the unpredictability of a special election would make it interesting, but yeah, still Lean R given the political climate right now..


It's pretty obvious who the most interesting of the most talked about Republican candidates would be.

I don't know. He was appointed to the Railroad Commission by GWB in 1998 and then became the first black statewide official elected in Texas history, having won elections in 2000, 2002, and 2008.  It's likely to be a crowded primary so he could win if he got enough support by virtue of sticking out.  And Texas isn't exactly Alabama, I don't think.
