xiao), the virtues that enable children to fulfill obligations to their parents, has long been an important Confucian virtue, a Guangzhou based chain in China is mandating that employees show it. 10% of a single employee's salary, and 5% of that of married employees, is deducted from their gross pay and sent to their parents. Hardly a government-mandated move, and accompanied by some monetary compensation for employees, the move is still rather extraordinary.
