I realize this is going to sound cliche. But, in my experience, you have to be who you are. If you're faithful to who you are, you'll find the people, the circumstances, and the work that are right for you. Finding the right life for yourself is a hell of a lot more important than chasing after what other people say about either "nice guys" or "finishing last." We all finish at the same place, in the grave, so I don't listen to crap about finishing last. Be true to yourself.
