I'm content to pass the budget as is whilst continuing to work at chiseling the deficit down through ordinary legislation outside of the budgetary process. We might also want to think about causing some economic growth to increase revenues.

If we're going to get into this now, I am content to agree to a repeal of the Missile Defense Research (3-5) and one of the Military Division Appropriations, though I would like to put a few qualifications on it, such as a legislative requirement that members of the disbanded division are given preference if applying for another job in the military inside the next 12 months. I'm not all that happy with a 10 point cut on the DoD - I'd agree to a cut of 5 points maybe, though I'd be happier with a 2 or 3 point cut.

Whilst I would not have agreed with ANWAR at the time, I'm not happy with cutting revenues until we are actually in a good fiscal position. I am willing to consider the cut in transportation, though for the minute I'll reserve final judgement.

I'm also happy to look into cuts to most other departments FTR.

Given that the only proposals to change anything have been withdrawn I hereby motion to accept the budget as is.

Aye. If the motion fails I expect to see some substantive motions out of the nay camp.
