This has nothing to do with social conservative vs. Goldwater conservative. There's no evidence Miers is the latter either (she has no record on federalism, property rights, etc.).

It was Republicans who gave us Thomas, Scalia, and Rehnquist, by the way.

It was Democrats who gave us Hugo Black and Byron White.
