Bloomberg is pretty much the opposite of me on every major issue, so needless to say I will never be supporting him. He also basically has no shot at being anything other than the candidate for wealthy people to assuage their "consciences." He's DOA for any national election.

"How many delegates will Bloomberg win?" would have been a more interesting question.

Most likely the same answer.

Seems Bloomberg has some pretty naive (to be charitable) views on China:

In case you harbored any delusions of Bloomberg winning back the Rust Belt or reversing any trends:

Bloomberg has nothing to gain and everything to lose by going to the debates.

This is a make-or-break moment for Bloomberg. The good news for him is that the expectations for his debate performance are not very high, which means if he simply holds his own, then he wins the debate.

Eh, being a hardened partisan isn't really something to brag about.

I think Bloomberg has made a huge strategic mistake by disowning stop and frisk. Two reasons: first, by denouncing his most widely known policy as a failure, it directly undermines the cornerstone claim of his campaign, that he is above all a competent manager who gets results. Second, in politics (and in business and entertainment), what you are widely known for is your brand; your policies and actions are what draw people to you in the first place. If you destroy the essentials of your brand, you destroy your appeal and make yourself a weak, unattractive, featureless void. The only thing worse than having a bad (i.e. polarizing) brand is having no brand at all.

You need to own what you've done in politics. Apologize if it is strategic to do so, but only if it's not possible to spin your history as a positive. Never disclaim what can be spun to your advantage. If Bloomberg were the clever politician he makes himself out to be, he'd spin stop and frisk as a positive. If I were advising him, I'd have him say something like this:

"I was mayor of an incredibly diverse city, which unfortunately means the majority of our criminals were people of color, as were the majority of our victims. While most of our criminals were people of color, the vast majority of people of color were ordinary, law-abiding citizens. Citizens who lived in fear and despised the rampant crime on their streets. They asked me for help, and I did what had to be done. Stop and frisk was messy, yes, but it was strong, and it was effective. We cut murders of people of color in half. We took thousands of illegal guns off the street. Politicians love to talk about gun control, but I'm the only one on this stage who has done the hard work of actually reducing gun violence. Most people in my city understand and appreciate that I fought for them. Polls show most people of color in New York City support my policy because, for the first time, communities of color are as safe as rich white neighborhoods. No one should have to live in fear of violence just because of the amount of money in their pocket or color of their skin."

Bloomberg should've been blanketing TX with ads about Sierra Blanca for the past few weeks.
