Kerry did better than Gore in Manhattan. The ultimate 9/11 county got more Democratic.

Misleading.  Bush also did better in New York county than 2000.  Nader factor.
You also fail to realize that something like 12-13% of WTC were Manhatten residents.  Bush did much better in the commuting counties.  He didnt lose Nassau and Suffolk by much which was surprising and did a heck of a lot better in NJ

If Republicans can remain competitive in around Long Island and Upstate New York, then ar least state-wide there is hope. Unless this election is an exception, New York Republicans should be pleased.
