Economically more liberal than many Democrats, and socially more conservative than most Republicans.  Truly an old-fashioned southern Democrat, a group that is virtually extinct.

Blue collar Republican; would have once been called a Nixon Democrat, or a Reagan Democrat.

Accurate. Although, I am actually a white collar worker with bue collar sensibilities becuase of my upbringing.  Had I lived in my parents' generation I likely would have abandoned the Democratic party in the 60's becuase they lurched too far left on social and economic issues.  <Sorry to derail the flow of the  thread.

I realize you're really white collar, but I know your background.  As I said, I welcome guys like you to the Republican party who may have been Democrats under the old political alignment.  We need you.

Dazz: "I don't give a sh**t" Republican. Basically, first concern re: governance is about self, as is the last and every other in between. This could be interpreted as selfish, although I think that it's actually the best type of republican-no real interest to conquer the world or 'treat homosexuals for their condition'. Basically, live and let live, but without actually caring about the 'let live' part so much.

NOTE: this is just in politics, not in day-to-day life. On a personal level, Dazz isn't selfish or anything, from what I've gathered Smiley

Interesting interpretation, though I don't think highly accurate.  I oppose liberal policies because I consider them to be very damaging, and to many people a lot more than they are to me.  If I were totally selfish, I'd probably be a limousine liberal who insulated myself from the effects of the policies that I support.

Ahem. I believe we need him more Wink

You may need him, but that doesn't mean you can have him.  He can decide on his own which party suits his interests better.
