I wanted to go ahead and get this in first - I think it is more time pressing than establishing our rules and procedures. This only covers the June federal election - doesn't specify later ones, but if someone thinks they can quickly pass a consensus amendment, please do so. The second part would go into effect now and would continue, though that could also be changed later on when we set later election dates.

I'm open to any questions - I think this upcoming weekend is too much of a time crunch so have proposed pushing it back to next weekend. All of the rules were taken from the bill that Blair offered in the previous Senate.

I have been notified that another discussion we should have is whether or not the recent House of Representatives election should count as the election for June. I'm inclined to say no since Congress is just getting started. If that is the case, I would like to friendly Section 1 Clause 1 to say "presidential elections" instead of "federal elections."

This act will become null and void following the conclusion of the upcoming election, allowing us to go back through this more comprehensively. I also added a clause to allow all of those registered in Canadian provinces to vote. I didn't bother dividing them into a region since it doesn't matter for a presidential election.

24 hours for objection. I will assume that since the chamber has been mostly silent on this bill that they find it acceptable, and after 24 hours we will move into a final vote so this can get sent over to the House.

24 hours have passed without an objection - the amendment has been adopted.

We are now voting on final passage of the bill. Senators, please vote Aye, Nay or Abstain. The vote will expire after 48 hours or when a majority decision is reached.

With 4 Ayes, I determine that this bill has passed. It will now be sent to the House.
