This is an issue I wanted to research, as I had previously supported minimum sentencing but wasn't entirely sure. I think there are certain benefits to minimum sentencing - it ensures more uniformity and probably helps prevent folks from getting off the hook based on who they know. However, I think the negatives of minimum sentencing vastly outweigh the positives after researching the subject, as it basically puts the ball in the prosecutors court and causes them to overcharge.

I will be supporting this amendment.
