How about Mark Warner?  Popular guy, somewhat bipartisan, and he won't be as much of a newcomer by the time Reid decides to call it quits.
Something tells me Warner won't run in 2014 for reelection, and will instead run for President in 2016. I don't think he's big on thet Senate.
