I've been down in Georgia a lot, and have relatives down there, so I know a little about this...

One of my relatives is friends with Governor Perdue. From the vibes she got from Perdue, she thinks he wants Deal to win. That's who I support, too. It should be a bloody close primary, if you ask me. As long as Roy Barnes doesn't win, I'll be happy. His decision redesign the flag was horrible, and he made the state flag look horrible as well. Hopefully voters will be reminded of that before election day.

Well, we just need to remind the party all of the horrible things, such as changing the flag, Barnes did. It is important that the state of Georgia keeps Barnes out of office if the state wants to prosper.

Well, it does bother me, and many others. The flag design was horrible. Who knows? He might try and change it back to that piece of garbage.

The Legislature changed it from this:

The Current flag is fine by me, and pretty much all Georgians:

King Roy might change it since it wasn't his design.

Maybe I don't understand since I don't live there, but why do people want the Confederate Battle Flag on there so much? Quite honestly, it's looked upon as a symbol of racism by a large number of people. Why would you honor that?

Most people don't really care anymore about the flag itself, actually. Conservatives just hold a personal grudge against Roy Barnes out of convenience.
He had no business changing the flag like that! If anything, it should have gone to a public vote.

UPDATE:
Within the last few days, Bill Clinton endorsed Thurbert Baker, while Sarah Palin endorsed Karen Handel. Both are very interesting, because neither Baker or Handel are frontrunners. On the Republican side, this could potentially create a neck-and-neck race between Handel and Oxendine. On the Democratic side, this could force Barnes into a runoff, something he was hoping to avoid. In 2008, Baker endorsed Hillary, while Barnes backed Edwards. That probably has something to do with it. Wink

Note: I know I posted this in another thread as well, but hey, this needed bumped up anyways with the primary coming up.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/docs/2010/Magellan_Georgia_Governor_Republican_Primary_070810.pdf

Magellan released a poll that was conducted on the 8th. Handel has a 14 point lead over Oxendine and Barnes.
Handel - 32%
Oxendine - 18%
Deal - 18%
Johnson - 12%

Keep in mind, this also happened before the Sarah Palin endorsement. Handel could approach 40% when this is all said and done. We'll see Wink

The Georgia race is officially over. Nathan's got this. Dale Peterson just endorsed him and put an ad out...
