After the Brown v. Board of Education decision, Virginia decided to try a strategy to shut down their public school systems, rather than have integrated schools.  Same idea:

Make no mistake.  Although our courts have just legalized Sodomy in all fifty states, marriage between same sex partners will NEVER be sanctioned as Holy by the Lord and Creator God and Jesus Christ.  The Lord I serve calls marriage between man and woman SACRED AND HOLY.  Governmental legislation can NEVER sanction what is profane and call it holy.  Same Sex Marriages are unclean and vile in the sight of a Holy Lord.  May God have mercy on your souls.

And my interpretation of the very same book is that partaking of unclean animals (pigs, shellfish, catfish, eels, many others) is an abomination.  Furthermore, the most of the methods used to kill even "clean" animals in this country are an abomination, as they are considered cruel.  Most learned scholars of my religion would also consider any form of hunting of birds and what we now call mammals to be cruel and an abomination.

I do not favor making any of the above acts illegal.  Why are you a control freak, Will?
